Overview

Laikipia isn’t a national park, it’s a patchwork of private conservancies across the central Kenyan highlands north of Mount Kenya, and that changes what a stay here can actually look like: lower visitor caps, off-road access most reserves prohibit, and enough room to genuinely slow down. This is our ‘fewer stops, longer stays’ flagship, five full nights at a single lodge with nowhere else on the schedule, built for travellers who’ve already ticked off the Mara or Amboseli and now want to properly sit with one exceptional piece of Kenya instead of covering more ground. The conservancy holds one of the highest black and white rhino densities left in the country, alongside healthy wild dog packs, and Mount Kenya on the horizon on a clear day.

Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi to Laikipia

Road transfer (approx. 4 hrs) onto the plateau. Afternoon orientation drive, evening settling in at the lodge.

Day 2: Conservancy plains

Morning drive across open conservancy ground tracking rhino sign, long rest through midday, easy evening drive.

Day 3: A day off the schedule

Genuinely open, no fixed plan: a slow morning drive if you want one, or simply time at the lodge watching the plateau.

Day 4: Wider conservancy circuit

Extended drive covering a wider block of conservancy land, tracking wild dog packs and the plateau’s giraffe and plains-game populations.

Day 5: Departure

Final morning drive, breakfast at the lodge, transfer back to Nairobi.
