For anyone who wants the Mara and then genuinely wants to stop moving afterward: four days on the open plains followed by three nights on Diani’s white sand, one of the coast’s best beaches, coral reef offshore, and a relaxed, palm-lined pace that’s the exact opposite of a game drive. We treat this as two distinct halves rather than trying to blend them, safari intensity first, then real rest, which is usually a better trip than a compressed itinerary trying to do both at once.

Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi to the Mara

Transfer and afternoon game drive, evening at the lodge.

Day 2: Full day, Mara Triangle

Extended drive through the reserve’s core predator ground.

Day 3: Talek and Rhino Ridge

Morning circuit, afternoon at leisure, evening sundowner drive.

Day 4: Mara to Diani

Morning drive, then a flight connection via Nairobi to the coast, evening arrival at a beachfront lodge.

Day 5: Diani, full rest day

Entirely unstructured: the beach, the pool, or an optional snorkelling trip.

Day 6: Diani, optional dhow sail

Optional traditional dhow sailing and snorkelling excursion, or simply another day on the sand.

Day 7: Departure

Final morning at leisure, transfer to Mombasa or connecting flight home.

Why fly instead of driving to the coast?

The road transfer from the Mara to Diani is a very long day, flying via Nairobi keeps the trip’s actual rest time intact instead of spending a day of it in a vehicle.

Can the split be adjusted, more safari or more beach?

Yes, this 4-3 split is our standard recommendation, but we regularly adjust it toward either half depending on what you actually want more of.
