Ol Pejeta, on the Laikipia plateau north of Mount Kenya, is East Africa’s largest black rhino sanctuary and home to the last two northern white rhino left on Earth, alongside a healthy population of lion, and the only chimpanzee sanctuary in Kenya, a fenced haven for chimps rescued from elsewhere in Africa. It’s a compact, easy-to-cover conservancy, which makes it a genuinely efficient short trip: rhino tracking, predator drives, and a chimp sanctuary visit all fit comfortably into three unhurried days from one lodge.

Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi to Ol Pejeta

Road transfer (approx. 3-4 hrs) onto the Laikipia plateau. Afternoon game drive, evening at the lodge.

Day 2: Rhino tracking and chimp sanctuary

Morning rhino tracking drive, afternoon visit to the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary.

Day 3: Departure

Final morning drive, breakfast, transfer back to Nairobi.

Viewing is possible under strict protocol with an armed guard present, subject to the conservancy’s own availability and rules at the time, we’ll confirm feasibility closer to your dates.
